Calvin Awarded SMART Scholarship

Calvin was awarded the Department of Defense Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation Scholarship.

This award provides students with full tuition for up to five years, mentorship, summer internships, a stipend and full-time employment with the Department of Defense after graduation. This unique opportunity offers students hands-on experience at one of over 200 innovative laboratories across the Army, Navy, Air Force and larger Department of Defense. During summer internships, SMART scholars work directly with an experienced mentor, gaining valuable technical skills. After graduation Calvin will work at MSIC – Defense Intelligence Agency in Huntsville, Alabama.

Calvin is currently studying for his PhD, with a focus in motion planning for multiple autonomous agents.

The motion planning algorithm developed by Calvin is flexible and allows the accomplishment of several autonomous missions by multiple autonomous drones, including search and rescue, target monitoring, and surveillance. He has papers on this topic, see link, and developed open-source software packages for motion planning, see link.
